At Wellspect we take our environmental responsibility seriously. That’s why we make continuous improvements to minimize the environmental impact of our products and services. Sustainability is evident in all parts of the business, which is something that we are very proud of.
It is of highest importance to us that our products make a real difference to our users, but we don’t want to stop there, we want our products to make a real difference to the environment as well. Extensive work has been done in order to find an alternative manufacturing process for our catheters, to make them more sustainable without having any negative effects on the users, and now we can finally say that we have taken a big step on our journey – LoFric just got greener!

Less water
The new coating process uses 98% less water and emits a minimum amount of waste water.
Less chemicals
The new coating process requires less chemicals and uses a new type of solvent.
50% lower carbon footprint
The new solvent is the best environmental alternative available for the process and has enabled us to lower our carbon footprint by 50%.
It’s still a LoFric
The new process and our unique Urotonic Surface TechnologyTM has been thoroughly tested and validated according to standards.

Becoming Climate Neutral: The new coating process has helped us reduce our carbon footprint with 50% and contributes to global goal 9 “industry, innovation and infrastructure”.
Safe, committed and inspiring workplace: The new coating process was developed in collaboration with the operators and the union through a cross-functional team with a focus on ensuring the best possible outcome, not only for the process, but also the work environment in production. This aligns with global goal 8 “decent work and economic growth”.
Sustainable production, throughout the value chain: Not only does the new coating process follow legislation, it goes above expectation. The process uses less water, less energy and less chemicals and solvents. This aligns with goal 12 “responsible consumption and production”.
