LoFric®, the first hydrophilic intermittent catheter for self-catheterization created a market buzz upon its launch in 1983. It is now also the first catheter to be attributed the Nordic Swan eco-labelling.
Wellspect HealthCare, a global Med Tech company with HQ in Mölndal, is set on becoming a lead environmental and sustainability actor. In support of its ongoing sustainability and environmental endeavors, Wellspect applied, end of last year, for the Nordic Swan label license.
“Our vision of becoming an industry leader in environment and sustainability is translated into daily actions across the 18 countries we operate in. The now approved eco-labelling of our lead product LoFric is a testimony to us having advanced in our journey," says Håkan Strandberg, Vice President of the Northern European Sales Division, Wellspect HealthCare.
The Swan is the official Nordic eco-label. A product must adhere to strict environmental criteria to be credited the Swan Ecolabel. This includes certain standards for type and ratio of chemical material.
”The Swan Ecolabelling facilitates the making of environmentally sound choices for all catheter users on the Nordic market, without compromising on quality and safety. Our company's ambition is to make a real difference for everyone who uses our products but also society at large," says Håkan Strandberg, Vice President of the Northern European Sales Division, Wellspect HealthCare.
The first Wellspect products to be endorsed with the Swan Ecolabelling are: LoFric Elle, LoFric Origo, LoFric Sense, LoFric Hydro-Kit and LoFric Primo. All products will be available on the market, in Swan-labelled product packaging, within the coming months.
